Proposition ASafety, classrooms and buses
The largest of the three. Security upgrades, career and agriculture programs, gyms, playgrounds and buses.
Leon Strong is a political action committee supporting the Leon ISD VATRE and all three bond propositions on this November’s ballot.
Proposition D · The heart of this election
Leon ISD is asking voters to approve 3ยข per $100 on the operating side of the school tax rate. The district says that money goes to teacher and staff compensation and to maintenance and operations.
Leon ISD is a Chapter 41 “recapture” district. Much of what it collects locally gets sent back to the state and spent somewhere else.
Golden pennies are the exception. Texas lets a district keep the revenue from about 8 operating pennies, and that money is not subject to recapture. It stays here.
Leon ISD already levies 5 of its 8. The VATRE asks for the last 3.
And bond money legally cannot pay a teacher. If you want Leon ISD to compete for and keep good teachers, the VATRE is the only question on this ballot that does it.
The bond is a separate question — three of them, in fact. Each is voted on independently, and bond dollars pay for buildings and buses rather than salaries. Leon Strong asks you to vote FOR all three, and FOR the VATRE.
The largest of the three. Security upgrades, career and agriculture programs, gyms, playgrounds and buses.
Athletic facility work, plus restrooms, concessions and transportation.
A single project: a covered space usable year-round and in bad weather.
Project lists are as published by Leon ISD. The amounts, and the full details for each proposition, are at leonisdbond.com.
Don’t take anyone’s word for it — including ours. Enter your own appraised value and check the result against your actual tax statement.
Open the tax impact calculatorIt starts from Leon ISD’s current rate of $0.7467 per $100, so you can confirm it matches your current bill before looking at the change. If you’re 65 or older, or disabled with a frozen tax ceiling, it shows that too.
Set by state law. They do not move.
